Terry Hollen, our Executive Director has years of experience volunteering with non profit organizations including Muscular Dystrophy and National Kidney Association. He has been strategically planning this organization for well over 3 years. Now that he has the people in place that share his passion and determination, we are eager to get this started!
Quality Bilt Equipment, will be taking the lead, but we would be looking for people to head up other pieces of the puzzle. Some other categories could include:
- Buying local to save on energy costs – farmers markets, etc.
- Environmental clean up proposals
- Land, water and energy saving devices or proposals
- Specialty projects like roof gardens
- College and University initiatives that include the handling of Styrofoam, etc
- Grade and high school initiatives such as road clean up projects
People for a Greener Pa.com is a new not-for-profit organization (presently in 501c3 application status), born from the need for an agency that pairs green initiatives with community care.
Our Fall Harvest Celebration is where we will be handing out free, fresh, local food to the community, with Bethesda Mission as a focused recipient. We are hoping to demonstrate that through “people helping people,” we may offer community care through green practices- as well as bring awareness to the livelihood of local farms. I have attached a copy for your viewing.
We envision building upon our success by developing our community and connecting people with people. We are planning for this even September 25, 2011.
*Green Practices are defined as: Supporting local farmers and food sources, Permaculture,, Urban Renewal Initiatives, Recycling, Alternative energy exploration, Sustainable building, Eco-friendly living, and Arts and Culture Creation.
